Service Team

Jason Short , Service Director

Jason Short is our longest serving and most trusted staff member. Jason joined MDBC in 1996 as a service technician fresh out of Seminole State College’s Marine Program. He met his wife Maureen here at the marina. She served as our controller from 2000 to 2008. He and Maureen reside in Mount Dora with their four children Anthony, Matthew, Samantha and Katie. When he’s not here taking care of customer’s needs Jason is very active with the Babe Ruth Little League Foundation. He got involved with MDBR six years ago when the program was floundering and with his leadership, they have seen a great turn around. He currently serves as the organization’s president. Jason loves spending time with his family riding four wheelers, shooting and leading our groups on various boating adventures.

John Asay, Service Technician

John joined us in July of 2014 as a technician having formerly been with the Family Boating Center in Sanford. John has lived in Mount Dora since 1977. He and his wife Desaray have three boys, Zach, Jacob and Brandon. John attended and graduated from the marine technician program at the MMI in Orlando. Since joining us he’s attended Mercury & Mercruiser Service Schools. Like the rest of us John is a boater too. He enjoys time with the family on the water when ever they can.

Jay Lewis, Service Writer

Jay Lewis or Joey as many of our customers know him literally grew up right here at the marina. Boats and boating have been part of his life practically since the day he was born. Jay is filling a dual role as our Parts & Accessory Manager as well as Service Writer. In this position he’s well versed not only to help with your parts needs but answer service/maintenance related questions as well. When Jay isn’t on the job he enjoys being on or under the water, fishing, shooting or just about any outdoor activity.
